<p>This module introduces students to the theories and concepts underpinning our understanding of contemporary society and geopolitics. It focuses on introducing students to key concepts through which the contemporary world can be understood. It will look at relationships between countries and within regions.  To truly understand our contemporary world requires an appreciation of historical events which have shaped national narratives and underpinned international relations. Geographic factors have greatly influenced geopolitical events be they political movements and human migration or exploitation of environments and strategic resources (e.g. hydrocarbons).</p>
