Written assignment

This module aims to develop a wider student experience of different kinds of physical environments in terms of characteristic forms and the processes that produce them. The module will develop students’ understanding of the complexities of geomorphological systems and will apply this understanding to the associated environmental and resource management issues. The module introduces a range of contrasting and distinctive geomorphological systems: the key processes and their resultant landforms will be identified and explained, and any implications for inhabitants in terms of land-use restrictions or natural hazards will be examined.
 Geomorphological concepts and techniques will be introduced in lectures and developed further in field and laboratory contexts. The second half of the module comprises lectures combined with seminars built around student contributions. The field work element of this module will be delivered partly during scheduled class time and partly through the residential field course.
