Assessment 2: In-Class Test

In Class Test 1: On-line, open book, and unseen In Class Test will run in the middle of term and will include topics taught until that time. Exam conditions apply.

Assessment 1: Written Assignment

Taught material will contribute an element every week to the SAIL programme (Score As I Learn) submitted via the VLE platform. 11 x 15 minutes weekly assignments. Each assignment will be worth 3%. Taking the best 8 out of 11 scores.

<p>The module will equip you with the qualities and transferable skills necessary to analyse continuous and discrete-time signals and systems in the time and frequency domain for a wide range of industrial applications. You will be introduced to analyses that will be performed using continuous/digital control theories and simulation packages where you will have the opportunity to relate theoretical mathematical approaches with simulated results. There will be real world examples where you will be able to relate your current knowledge with relevant mathematical relations. You will then be introduced to various strategies that are used to control an output from a system.</p>

Signal Analysis and Control

Proficiently use modern modelling techniques and computer software to design and determine the performance of control systems including non-linear and dynamic effects.

Demonstrate specific knowledge and understanding of topics related to control and digital signal processing.

Apply the fundamental signal processing techniques for the analysis of continuous and discrete control systems responses in time and frequency domains.

Use MATLAB as (i) a tool for processing signals and (ii) time domain and frequency domain analysis of continuous and discrete control systems.
