Taught material will contribute an element every week to the SAIL programme (Score As I Learn) submitted via the VLE platform. 11 x 15 minutes weekly assignments. Each assignment will be worth 3%. Taking the best 8 out of 11 scores.

Coursework in the form of an assignment will be based on simulation based experimental/design work. Antenna design and evaluation will be carried out in this task and the findings will be submitted as a report.

<p>The module provides you an overview of modern communication systems. You will develop an understanding of the operation of radio systems, and develop skills in associated system-level design and analysis methods and practical design, build and test.</p>

Communication Systems

Design and construct a communication subsystem to meet a defined specification.

Explain the operation of communication systems with the aid of appropriate theory and analytical methods.

Critically compare the performance of communication systems as regards their suitability for specified applications.

Analyse communication systems and subsystems using appropriate analytical methods.

Evaluate and critically discuss the performance of a communication sub-system in relation to its associated theoretical performance and the target specification for the subsystem.
