EnABLE group exercises will offer formative assessment and feedback in a range of ways. Informal peer to peer feedback will be promoted within groups and between groups at the end of the exercise. In addition, facilitators and experts will offer feedback on interim performance on planning and construction exercises. Verbal feedback will also be available as part of the competition or presentation expected at the end of the exercise.

Taught material will contribute an element every week to the SAIL programme (Score As I Learn) submitted via the VLE platform. 11 x 15 minutes weekly assignments (quizzes). Each assignment (quiz) will be worth 3%. Taking the best 8 out of 11 scores.

Laboratory.Students will perform an experiment in the laboratory and will then write a report on that experiment.

<p>In this module you will have the opportunity to demonstrate a range of knowledge and understanding of the basic engineering principles that support the operation of engineering systems through theoretical and practical application. As you progress through the module you will demonstrate critical, creative and innovative thinking through the understanding of the basics of forces, energy, power and stress analysis. You will apply your knowledge and adopt a structured approach to investigate simple static, dynamic and fluidic problems through practical experimentation to further understand the scientific relationships that underpin such systems.</p>

State and describe the behaviour of fundamental dynamic and static engineering systems.

Demonstrate the use of materials within basic structural and dynamic components such as beams and shafts subjected to specific operating conditions.

Work as an effective team member to generate and present a solution to an engineering challenge.

Illustrate simple engineering systems in terms of forces, inertias, torques and moments and their interaction relating to stress and energy.

State and describe the fundamental principles of heat transfer and fluid pressure.

Demonstrate basic experimental techniques used in mechanical analysis and discuss the results of such experiments.
