Formative assessment will take the form of a presentation of a case study at a placement seminar.

Assessment 2: Portfolio

Students will be asked to submit a portfolio consisting of the learning agreement, a mid- placement report, a final student report and notes from 3 observations of practice; this will provide key evidence for the practice educator report. Practice educators will be given detailed instructions for the preparation of their reports, drawing upon from a range of sources, but specifically including evidence from the students learning journal, direct observations, feedback from service users and colleagues, supervision and case recordings. They will be required to rate student performance as Pass/Fail.
This assessment task is Pass/Refer/Fail.

Portfolio

Assessment 1: Written Assignment

A case study on social work practice undertaken by the student with an individual service user, carer or service user group.

Written Assignment

This module provides you with the opportunity to critically apply and develop your knowledge, skills and values in a practice setting. You’ll complete 100 days of assessed practice in a social work setting where you’ll be supported by a practice educator. You’ll also be required to demonstrate that you can practice in accordance with the Professional Capabilities Framework for social work.
The allocation of your placement will be based on a thorough consideration of your learning needs and the availability of appropriate practice learning opportunities.
Learning opportunities, management and supervision will be provided by an experienced practitioner and the placement will be supported via supervision with your practice educator and regular practice learning seminars for students held online via Teams.
This module will provide you with the understanding and knowledge for the Professional Capabilities Framework for Social Work at the end of final placement level.
This module will also provide you with underpinning knowledge that is required to meet the Chief Social Workers’ Knowledge and Skills Statements and Social Work England’s Professional Standards.

Final Practice Placement

Use self-direction in recognising issues of diversity and power and apply and manage anti- discriminatory principles in practice.

Synthesise the work of different authors and provide evidence that you can use research databases or primary sources of literature to inform your practice and professional judgement.

Critically analyse and apply knowledge of social sciences, law and social work theory to practice situations.

Identify and behave as a professional social worker, committed to your own professional development.

Provide evidence that they have met the domains of the Professional Capabilities Framework (qualifying social worker level).

Systematically apply social work ethical principles and values that guide your professional practice.
