This module examines the international context and contested concepts of social work within the UK. You will be encouraged to develop a critical awareness of the issues, policy and organisational changes that impact on the role, functions, responsibilities and duties of social workers. You will examine the policy, legal and practice contexts that frame adult and children’s social care, including the tensions, dilemmas and debates that exist between balancing social work activities aimed at supporting individuals and their families.
This module will provide you with underpinning knowledge that is required to meet the Chief Social Workers’ Knowledge and Skills Statements.

Statutory Social Work: Methods and Approaches
