The formative assessment task available is submission of a written plan of the assignment.  Students can have the opportunity for formative feedback on a written plan for the assignment.  Formative feedback may include comments on the relevance of the topic chosen, the areas intended to be covered, the authors and research intended to be drawn upon etc.

<p>You will critically examine the concepts of mental capacity and mental disorder within the context of the current policy and legislative framework relating to this field of practice. This will introduce you to the 2005 Mental Capacity Act and 1983 Mental Health Act (amended), and will focus on the context within which these Acts are applied and how they relate to a wider safeguarding agenda. The module has been designed to complement the Best Interest Assessor module and provides the necessary pre requisite knowledge for those of you who are not Approved Mental Health Professional trained. </p>

Demonstrate the ability to critically apply an understanding of mental capacity and mental disorder within the appropriate legislative frameworks.

Have a critical understanding of the models of mental health and mental disorder.

Have a critical understanding and applied knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 1983 and related Code of Practices.
