<p>Effective clinical risk-management is crucial to the delivery of high-quality services and is central in managing the care and treatment of service-users. This skills-based module provides the opportunity for students from a multidisciplinary and multiagency background to appraise existing legislative frameworks, policies and procedures. You will also explore clinical practice relating to the management of clinical risk and the safeguarding of service-users, carers and staff.</p>

Critically appraise key approaches to clinical risk assessment and management.

Critically evaluate own practice in leading a person-centred approach to risk taking, clinical risk management and restrictive practices while safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

Apply a structured approach to clinical risk assessment and managing risks posed by service users.

Demonstrate a critical understanding of the origins and causes of risks to self and others including suicide and violence.

Critically evaluate regulatory processes and the legislative framework for clinical risk management and safeguarding in the work setting. 

Critically analyse the links between vulnerability, capacity, consent and safeguarding and how risk-taking can contribute to the achievement of positive outcomes for individuals.
