Students must demonstrate professional conduct and evidence of competency across 3 key areas of clinical practice: personal development, interpersonal skills and decision making and implementation. Such competencies should demonstrate Intermediate level (Level 5) expectations.
Students should normally attain approximately 34 hours per week within each PBE so as to achieve the minimum of 1000 clinical hours for completion of the course.

Practical Skills Assessment

In this module you’ll examine current physiotherapeutic treatment, rehabilitation and electrophysical modalities. Through practical sessions you’ll study how to safely and effectively deliver treatments.,. You’ll also complete and be assessed on a five-week clinical placement in the NHS or private sector, where you’ll have the opportunity to further develop your knowledge, understanding and practical skills through working with service users. This module relates to current treatment, rehabilitation and electrophysical modalities used in the management of patient care. You will develop safe and effective application of modalities and offer an informed choice of use.
By virtue of a practice based clinical experience, the module also encompasses the following key themes: • Development of manual skill, clinical reasoning and critical analysis • Understanding of the various models of health with application to physiotherapy, thus encompassing biological and biopsychosocial models of health. • Health promotion and the empowerment of clients • The integration of interprofessional and inter-agency work within teaching and learning to reflect changing clinical practice.

Compulsory for eligibility to apply for registration with the HCPC.

Compulsory for eligibility to apply for membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
