Assessment 1: Project Work

Learners are assessed using the Bossers et al (2007) Competency Based Fieldwork Evaluation (CBFE) for Occupational Therapists in the following competencies:
Practice KnowledgeClinical ReasoningFacilitating Change with a Practice ProcessProfessional Interactions and ResponsibilityCommunicationProfessional DevelopmentPerformance Management
 
This competency based framework enables progression through the practice placements to be explicitly mapped.
 
The placement must be passed at 40% to gain credit for the module.
Referral on practice is not available, only initial reassessment. This is a professional body requirement.

Project Work

<p>You’ll have the opportunity to work with increasing independence by learning how to manage your time and prioritise your workload during an eight week placement within the NHS, social care or non- traditional settings. You’ll encounter clients with complex and challenging needs and contribute to the management of the service, working effectively as part of a team. Alongside a practice- based educator, you’ll develop a learning contract to identify learning outcomes for your placement.</p>

Critically evaluate the complexities and challenges of delivering client care within health, social care organisations, and third sector organisations

Evaluate the complexities of interprofessional working

Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary and interprofessional team

Work collaboratively with client and colleagues from diverse and ethnic groups

Initiate, carry out and evaluate activities which promote the wider development of the placement environment

Manage a small caseload within the placement setting to include planning, arranging, implementing and evaluating programmes.
