<p>This module explores the role of Physical Education within the lives of young people today. It considers the historical development of Physical Education and debates within Physical Education which have emerged since its inception as part of the school curriculum. The module also appraises global perspectives on Physical Education and considers comparisons across countries. From a UK framework the module also explores the role of, and current focus on physical literacy within the Physical Education curriculum. Using existing research in the field the module also assesses what successful Physical Education looks like in contemporary society. In addition, students experience a short series of workshops which embed contemporary and innovative Physical Education teaching practice. </p>
