This module will be assessed both formatively and summatively. Formative tutorial support will be delivered in class to develop the summative written assignment and will be delivered at pertinent points in the module. In addition, there will be an opportunity to submit a written assignment plan for written feedback for the final summative written assignment. The details and arrangements for this will be set by the module leader and detailed in writing in the module handbook and on the virtual learning environment.

<p>This module examines the key concepts and philosophies underpinning occupational therapy practice. You’ll explore the form, function and meaning of occupation, while considering the value and importance that occupations have for individuals, communities and populations. You’ll consider the emerging role of occupational science and its influence on practice. Additionally, you’ll explore the environmental and cultural influences on occupational performance. Fundamental to this module is placing the individual at the centre of occupational therapy practice. You’ll explore a variety of occupational therapy models of practice that support the occupational therapy process. You’ll develop your problem-solving, therapeutic and professional reasoning skills.</p>
