University based: Structured reading will be recommended prior to commencement of the practice based Experience. University based seminars workshops will consolidate theory and practice learnt on other modules, appropriate to the expected experience. Practice based: You will participate in a 6 week practice placement as an introduction to occupational therapy practice.
Support to both practice educator and learner will be given via the placement handbook and link tutor.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students will
1.
Interpret knowledge and demonstrates an understanding of professional issues related to occupational therapy.
2.
Manage effective therapeutic relationships with clients and carers in a variety of situations.
3.
Considers the occupational therapy role in relationship to other professions.
4.
Consider the individuality, well-being and safety of clients, colleagues and self in preparation for the workplace and adheres to the Code of Ethics and Professional conduct (College of Occupational Therapists, 2015).
5.
Recognise client difficulties as a result of occupational disruption.
6.
Identifies and carries out appropriate functional assessments with selected clients.
