Learning Strategy

Lectures and seminars will be used to deliver key substantive content. Additional guided reading and activities will be set out in the module handbook to support directed study, which will also make use of the VLE. Students are also expected to contribute 312 hours of private study.

Outline Syllabus

The module is split into 4 areas of study: 1. What are Crime, Disorder and Anti-Social Behaviour?2. Legislative Responses to Social and/or Criminal Problems3. Explaining Crime and Criminal Behaviour4. Informal and Formal Responses to Crime and Criminal Behaviour.

On successful completion of this module students will

Identify the processes of formulating legislation in England and Wales.

Identify key principles in criminal law.

Assess key explanations for crime, criminal behaviour and disorder.
