Learning Strategy

The module will utilise lectures, seminars and WBL. Teaching is delivered synchronously as full day block sessions and is supported via Brightspace through set tasks, discussions, asynchronous videos and recommended reading.

Outline Syllabus

Organisations and organisational culture, structure and purpose of guidance work, multi-agency working; Theories and practices of different models of work including strategic development; critical analysis of key professional issues e.g.  professional and ethical boundaries will all be considered.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students will
1.
Understands and critically evaluates the work place / placement agency in terms of culture, structure and purpose.
2.
Has a critical understanding of a range of theory and practice and has a systematic understanding of how to support practice through theory and how to derive theory from practice in the work place / placement context.
3.
Understands concepts of critical self-evaluation and reflective practice.
4.
Applies core values (e.g. ethical practice) to practical work.
5.
Learns from developmental supervision, and/or mentoring and uses this support to critically evaluate own development, role and understanding of relevant theory.
