Assessment 2: Presentation

Students will present a reflection on their developing knowledge and understanding of person-centred approaches in a mode decided with their tutor (e.g. live presentation, video blog, poster etc). The presentation will include how they have applied findings from their research to their own practice on placement, e.g. through the use of person-centred planning, the graduated approach, paperwork such as support plans and so on. Students will identify areas for future development in their own person-centred practice.

Students will carry out a piece of small-scale research about an issue related to person-centred approaches, as agreed with their tutor. They will produce a research report that analyses findings in light of theory and current policy, as well as giving an overview of methods used, ethical considerations and limitations

<p>You will study current policy and legislation related to person-centred approaches within education, health and care settings for children and young people with individual learning needs or special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). You will explore the theoretical underpinning of person-centred practice and evaluate a range of approaches. You will examine the role of the practitioner in supporting and developing person-centred practice, exploring issues including working with families, developing early communication skills, solution focused approaches, and the voice of the child or young person. You will explore a range of research methodologies and ethics and carry out a small scale piece of research about person-centred practice.</p>
