Written Assignment

This module will support you to develop your understanding of the meaning of the term ‘curriculum’. It will introduce you to social, theoretical and political influences on the construction of a curriculum for the primary phase of education. It will trace the historical context from which the present national curriculum has evolved and the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. You will learn about the statutory aims and content of the current primary curriculum and consider the wider aspects of curriculum design that support schools to plan their curriculum to meet the needs and priorities of their local context. You will be assessed through one task: to research, design, and critically evaluate a curriculum model for a primary school based on the current National Curriculum or EYFS framework.
