Students will undertake a series of formative exercises through the University’s Virtual Learning Environment. Feedback, advice and guidance will be provided for these exercises.

Assessment 2: Portfolio

Working individually, produce a portfolio analysing a problem specification and suggesting potential weaknesses and mitigation techniques. The portfolio should indicatively include: relevant cyber-crime trends, digital forensics analysis, data and network security audit.

Assessment 1: Practical Skills Assessment

A practical assessment relating to the examination of a system to plan and perform a forensic study of digital artifacts suspected to be involved in IT crime. The assessment will be oral with an indicative duration of 30 minutes and students will be required to individually communicate their answers.

<p>Upon successful completion of this module, you will have a systematic understanding of knowledge, and critical awareness of current cyber security challenges and how they are exploited through cybercrime. This includes gaining practical knowledge of how to perform and critically evaluate a crime scene from a digital perspective. You will also be enabled to critically evaluate and engage in scholarship in the discipline, including proposing and testing both research and investigative hypotheses. You will explore many different aspects of cybercrime and how they are fundamentally possible, often through exploiting weaknesses in computer and network security.</p>

Critically evaluate and engage in scholarship in the discipline, including proposing and testing both research and investigative hypotheses.
