A final single portfolio piece (a vertical slice) assessing all elements of a game, including game/level design, technical achievement, overall aesthetic, asset management and a final presentation.

There will be 3 x 10 min demonstrations. These will assess your understanding of fundamental issues for scripting interaction and game environment development. (5% per presentation).

<p>This module builds on prior knowledge gained in previous study of game engines. You will be introduced to principles and good practices when designing and prototyping for game building. It will explore how assets and levels may be designed, created, imported and manipulated in (an) industry standard gaming environment(s). The module will then progress your understanding of scripting using an object-based language and will equip you with the skills to script interactions, actions and animations.</p>

Have knowledge of fundamental design and implementation issues for 3D game’s prototyping.

Be able to reflect on the fundamental issues for scripting interaction in a 3D environment.

Create, import and manipulate a range of 3D assets in a given game prototyping environment.

Demonstrate an ability to design a playable level.

Be able to critically assess the playability of a computer game.

Understand from practical experience the potential and limitations of selected current 3D game prototyping tools and environments.

Demonstrate an ability to apply scripting methods to simple interactive 3D environments.
