A report demonstrating the ability to solve a range of problems involving extrapolation and interpolation, geometric transformations and root finding by selecting an appropriate method and working through the steps of the solution.

<p>This module covers the mathematical foundations required for scientific computing. You’ll be introduced to fundamental concepts in algebra and be supported in developing an understanding of both analytical and numerical methods for solving equations in one variable. You&#39;ll also be introduced to error analysis and proof.</p>

Discuss fundamental concepts of algebra including differentiation, integration and limits.

Appraise the mathematical development of various algorithms used to solve problems analytically and numerically.

Understand computer representation of numbers and IEEE arithmetic.

Formulate algebraic argument, simplify and manipulate algebraic expressions.

Simulate arithmetic using floating point numbers.

Prove simple arguments and theorems using, for example, the concept of limits.

Solve equations in one variable and construct solutions for the interpolation and approximation of functions.
