<p>In this module you will explore and critically examine theories of cognitive psychology and judgement and decision-making. You will learn about the role of perception, attention, learning and memory in categorisation, thinking, judgement and choice, as well as the quantitative models of these psychological processes. This module provides the opportunity for you to critically investigate recent developments in normative and descriptive theories of choice, as well as the impact of experience and expertise on categorisation and choice. The module will also help you to evaluate critically whether human thinking is rational, and the normative models with which that rationality is measured. Finally, the module will introduce you to applications of judgement and decision-making research in areas such as politics, sports, economics and health.</p>

Judgement and Decision-Making

Demonstrate a critical understanding of psychological and economic theories and concepts in relation to judgement and decision-making.

Demonstrate a broad knowledge and critically evaluate research in behavioural science.

Develop coherent written arguments relating to theories of cognitive psychology, judgement and decision-making. 

Express and justify arguments in relation to human judgement and decision-making.

Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of psychological theories and theories of choice.

Critically analyse the relevance of decision science theory to contemporary issues in areas such as consumer decision making, politics, economics, sports and health.
