Activities providing opportunities for formative assessment will generally be integrated into the teaching and learning process and apply to all components of summative assessment.  The nature of the formative assessment tasks used will be at the discretion of the tutor, to include for example, workshop exercises, quizzes, group discussions.

One Coursework, split into a requirement to pick one question from Part A (Admin of Justice) and Part B (HR), each weighted 50/50 for marks (total 100%).

Analyse a variety of legal sources which govern the civil and criminal justice systems.

Critically evaluate how Convention rights and freedoms may be protected or enforced by national courts and the European Court of Human Rights.

Recognise the relevant features of the civil and criminal justice systems.

Research and retrieve up-to-date legal information from a variety of primary and secondary sources and communicate this data in writing.

Critically evaluate the relevant rights and issues arising from a case based scenario and come to a reasoned conclusion in relation to questions posed.

Evaluate the relevant institutions and professions involved in the administration of justice and their roles.


Communicate information, critical argument and critical analysis relating to administration of justice and human rights, identifying relevant issues and reaching reasoned conclusions in relation to questions posed.

Describe and critically evaluate in writing a feature or institution of the civil or criminal justice systems.

Recognise and describe the relevant rights and freedoms protected by the Convention.

Describe and critically assess in writing particular rights or freedoms protected by the Convention.

Produce a synthesis of relevant policy or social issues in relation to a topic and make a critical judgment of the merits of particular arguments.
