Students will learn strategic and analytical, planning, control and review techniques – and practice them during the planning and implementation of a live event. They will choose and apply appropriate systems to improve operational effectiveness and decision making throughout the project management phases of a Live Event.
Teaching will be via a week session of lectures followed by workshops and planning sessions with their mentors in groups. Week by week the groups will follow the project management phases in order to execute a Live Event. Throughout there will be an integrated approach, with strong links to other areas of the student’s programme such as Design and Events Technology.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students will

Evaluate the characteristics of an effective project team and project management systems.

Identify the implications of external influences including sustainable and ethical considerations on the project team.
3.
Analyse the strengths and weaknesses of available planning and control techniques.
4.
Examine the major Health and Safety responsibilities of the event manager.
5.
Apply Project Objectives and build realistic schedules and cost predictions to implement a Live Event.
6.
Implement effective reporting, best practice and contingency for each initiative.
7.
Execute a range of Health and safety best practices to a Live Event.
8.
Evaluate the performance of a Live Event using appropriate benchmarks.
