Activities providing opportunities for formative assessment will generally be integrated into the teaching and learning process and apply to all components of summative assessment.  The nature of the formative assessment tasks used will be at the discretion of the tutor, to include for example, workshop exercises, quizzes, group discussions.

The module focuses on the role of purchasing and supply as a key driver of organisational performance, enabling the smooth flow of goods at optimum cost whilst meeting the specific requirements of the end user. Students will develop their knowledge, understanding and skills through structured classroom learning, directed self-study and through a work based project focused on purchasing and supply within their own organisation.
Building on the end of year skills audit in Work-based Development Module 2, students will agree work-based learning objectives and a clear learning plan that will enable them to demonstrate attainment of the outcomes of this module and the application of learning in the workplace.  The learning plan will incorporate a project linked to the performance or development of purchasing and supply within the student’s organisation, with terms of reference agreed by the student, the employer and the university.  The project will also further support the personal and professional development of the student with the learning plan used to inform summative assessment.
