This module is concerned with the practice, possibilities, skills, roles and responsibilities of being a manager within organisations that are affected by different forms of global activity. The term ‘global manager’ is used frequently but is not yet fully defined. Therefore, in this module, the role of a ‘global manager’ is considered in its broadest terms; that is, a manager who seeks to adapt their mindset to ‘thinking globally’ as well as ‘responsible global management’. This approach will encourage managers to be open to expand their personal capabilities beyond a domestic sphere of concern and become aware of wider global issues.

Critically appreciate the nature of change that is re-shaping the role of being a manager in 	global contexts.

Understand the possibilities and new opportunities that a widening global perspective affords 	the manager, both for their organisation and their own capabilities.

Understand the complexity surrounding the notion of responsible global management and being a global manager.


Critically evaluate a wide range of organisational management practices that might require adaptation in the face of global change, both conceptually and practically.

Offer practical and higher level creative suggestions that develop management practice for organisational managers facing global pressure for change.

Critically articulate the nature of global management, its nuances and paradoxes, as well as its 	opportunities.
