On successful completion of this module students will

Develop an in depth understanding of the historical origins of sport as well as the nature and structure of both domestic and international sport.

Critically evaluate the importance of strategy in sport and the problems associated with it.

Assess the planning and management processes required in the management of sporting organisations.

Understand the importance and definitions of governance, ethics and risk in relation to management in sport.

Evaluate and identify the different types of strategy associated with sports organisations.

Critically evaluate the role of strategic planning and its importance in the sports events industry.
