<p>The purpose of this module is to introduce students to the fundamentals of human resource management. The module will consider different approaches to the study and practice of human resource management. Using relevant theories, research and case studies, the module will explore the history and development of HRM as a way of managing people in the workplace, look at the role HRM plays within organisations, and the relationship between HRM and other organisational actors (e.g. line managers) and organisational outcomes (e.g. productivity). The module will explore the role of HRM in shaping and managing individuals and groups at work from recruitment through to the termination of the employment relationship. </p>
