<p>To provide students with an introduction to the concepts, principles and practices of accounting and financial reporting.  This will include the ability to maintain accounting records, prepare and present financial reports.  A range of types of ownership of business organisations will be covered.  The students will be introduced to the limitations in financial reporting and to the audit requirements for limited companies. The sources of authority for financial reporting, the Companies Acts and accounting standards, will be considered for their impact on the form and content of financial reports. </p>

Prepare accounting records to provide information for financial reports and the control of that information (to include control accounts and reconciliations).

Identify and explain the sources of authority (accounting standards and legislation) for financial reports and their limitations, including the effects of inflation.

Identify users of accounting information and explain their needs.

Explain the audit requirements of the Companies Acts, including the content of audit 	reports.

Prepare and present financial reports in a form suitable for the type of business organisation
