Thesis

The module is designed to enable students to engage in a substantial piece of student-centred learning. Students will deploy, and reflect upon, the skills and knowledge acquired in the MA taught modules. The programme of study undertaken will be determined through consultation with the relevant tutor. Individual dissertations will be expected to address the nature and challenges of research in Holocaust Studies and to have fully considered its methodological implications.
Students have the option of either submitting a written dissertation or a practice-based project (which will include a shorter written dissertation). Practice and dissertation should always be related and should not be considered as two entirely distinct components. The portfolio of work comprises practice AND written work, to be considered and assessed as a whole, such that the practice supports the written work and vice versa. The final result will then be a reflection of the whole portfolio.
