On successful completion of this module students will
1.
develop knowledge of a range of contemporary, modern and pre-20th century poetic texts exemplifying a range of forms and techniques.
2.
develop knowledge and understanding of the formal and technical aspects of poetry and the relationship of these aspects of the craft to intention, theme and content.
3.
develop knowledge and understanding of differing genres and schools of poetry and their differing approaches to form and technique.
4.
be able to write poems in a range of forms using a variety of techniques, matching these to intention, theme and content as appropriate.
5.
be able to expound, explain and evaluate their work demonstrating a contextual understanding of contemporary, modern and pre-Twentieth century poetry.
6.
be able to expound, explain and evaluate their work demonstrating an informed understanding of the forms and techniques they have deployed in relation to intention, theme and content, as appropriate.
