Formative assessment is ongoing and will take place through tutor and peer feedback in seminars. Students are given analytical and technical tasks during seminars and will present and/or submit their results for peer and tutor feedback.

A portfolio. This will be a career plan, also typically including documents such as a CV, a sample covering letter, and other supporting work-related evidence, which can be incorporated into a PDP portfolio.

An essay on a topic relating to media work. Students’ research for the essay will usually involve identifying an industry area they would like to pursue, investigating it and engaging with professionals currently working in that field.

<p>This module examines transformations of employment, agency and practice in creative and cultural industries. Through the study of forms of media work and labour, you will develop an understanding of the wider context of contemporary work and employment and critically assess its interplay with political, social, cultural, technological and economic structures. Knowledge and understanding of media and creative industries are in turn are applied to skills required in selecting appropriate career paths and opportunities, including employment, freelancing and entrepreneurship, and portfolio building.</p>
