A series of lectures spread across the year will introduce music and musical topics relevant to the study and creation of audiovisual media from a range of cultural and chronological contexts. On successful completion of this module students will

be able to show an awareness of various stylistic developments in music history and culture, in particular those appropriate to the study and creation of audiovisual media.

be able to show knowledge and understanding of the stylistic features, concepts, and trends that provide identity and character to the repertoires studied during the module.

be able to understand how audiovisual media texts and practices relate to broader social, cultural, and technological developments.
