An analysis of a feature film, documentary or television programme from the mid-twentieth century from a prepared list. Technique and method to be similar to standard documentary exercise. Supported by session in Year 1 shared module

<p>The module combines a chronological and thematic approach to introduce you to the major political, social, economic and cultural developments affecting British society in the 20th century. The module falls within the Communities and Welfare research strands and will explore how Britons identified themselves with a variety of communities, relating to place, gender, class and other affiliations. It will also explore the development of social policy in relation to the welfare state.</p>

Twentieth Century Britain

be able to evaluate differing perspectives and historical interpretations of social, political, economic and cultural change in the United Kingdom over the Twentieth Century.

be able to understand the political, social, economic and cultural development of Britain in the twentieth century, 

be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using referencing and demonstrating appropriate digital literacy. 

be able to develop a reasoned line of argument and communicate this orally and in writing. 

be able to engage with and analyse primary sources from the twentieth century.  

be able to evaluate primary material originating from different sources, such as letters, memoirs, newspapers reports and especially, film and television.
