<p>The module covers the history of what was to become Europe from the decline of the Western Roman Empire to the end of the eleventh century.  It gives equal weight to the political, religious and social history of the period, drawn from a range of geographic locations and ethnic groups from Scandinavia to the Eastern Mediterranean. It will examine written sources alongside visual representations and material culture.</p>
