To consolidate the skills and knowledge from the first two years of study on the course.
To enable you to operate as part of a team and to contribute to the operation of the host company or to undertake a managed work experience as agreed by the Course Leader or Placement Tutor (eg development of own business).
To enable you to appreciate the discipline of an industrial working environment.
To assist in the clarification of your possible career options and to improve employment prospects upon graduation.
This period can be made up of one period with a single company/organisation, several periods with various companies/organisations, a year setting up your own business/freelancing (EPY option) or periods with companies together with additional project work approved by the placement tutor and the course teams.
You will normally spend a total of 48 weeks, with a minimum of 36 weeks, between the end of year two and the beginning of your final year in a suitable work placement.  The placement will be monitored, and you will be assessed on your performance during the work placement upon completion.
