As an integral part of your architectural and urban design projects, this module will enhance your knowledge and understanding of:
<ul><li>the organisation and administration of architectural practice.</li><li>the responsibilities and obligations of an architect to clients and other parties involved in the building design and construction process.</li><li>collaboration, information management and B.I.M.</li><li>Building Control and Planning legislation.</li><li>the legal and contractual procedures involved in building procurement.</li><li>Strategies of estimating and cost control of the construction process.</li><li>the personal and team management skills appropriate to architectural practice.</li><li>the responsibility of the architect towards the health and safety of those employed in the construction industry, the well-being of building users and the effect of building development upon society at large.</li></ul>
Management exercises supporting this module will help you to develop a critical awareness of the appropriateness of different methodologies and their application in practice. Communication and co-ordination skills and management techniques will be developed by teamwork principles and participation in simulated exercises.
The module also seeks to develop your awareness of how matters such as the choice of materials and sources of funding can affect the cost of building and the architect&#39;s specification.
