Assessment 1: Portfolio

You will be expected to produce a portfolio comprising a series of up to 4 summative project submissions which comprise:
An innovative collection of samples appropriate to your chosen context and the brief set.A comprehensive body of research related to the context, market position and global issues relevant to each brief.Professional presentation of visual and written outcomes. Reflective commentary/Log book and personal development planning.

This module will be directly informed by your advanced materials and process module and allows you to explore a series of outcomes which will expand and develop methods of research, sampling, making and presentation within your practice area of Textile Design, Surface Design or Textile Craft.
Creative Professional Practice will be facilitated through a wide variety of assignments appropriate to your practice area, which may be externally led as through sponsored projects and national competitions/exhibitions or may be self-written. You will continuously evaluate the context of your work as an integral part of your development as a Textiles Practitioner, one whose focus could be on Surface Design, Textile Craft or Textile Design outcomes.
Your problem setting and solving abilities will be further increased through sampling for context.  You will continue to explore various methods and materials that will make you adaptable and flexible in your approach to a project brief. You will be able to recognise and understand the context of your work and present this appropriately. The module will address your personal development planning, career preparation and professional practice in relation to the set projects.
You will further develop your knowledge and skills in hand, digital and workshop technologies relevant to your specialist practice area.
Your use of studio, print, knit, weave, stitch or digital technologies in context to your practice will increasingly focus on more advanced and multi – disciplinary use of materials, techniques and research processes that reflect the more sophisticated approach to the integration of concept, market, contextual, technological and aesthetic issues that will prepare you for your sandwich placement and/ or your final year’s study.
