In addition to periodic interim design reviews, a formative portfolio assessment review will be included, which will normally take the form of formative feedback, prior to resubmission of the work as part of the summative assessment for the module.

The technical precedent studies will receive formative feedback, which will be given on a draft of your work that you will then resubmit for the summative assessment for the module.

Tectonic investigations and detailed technical resolution of an Architectural design, which would typically be communicated through substantive drawings of each of the structural, environmental and services and constructional and material strategies

This module is concerned with the technical resolution of your Major Design Project in adjacent module Design Studio 6: Culture, Context, Place (or a negotiated alternative).
It requires the production of written and illustrated technical precedent studies exploring aspects of architectural technology. You will be expected to explore contemporary technologies and, where possible examine some at the current boundaries of professional practice and the academic discipline of architecture.
You are expected to critically reflect upon what you have learnt and resolve the technical and tectonic detail design of your Major Design Project
