You will receive formative assessment throughout this module through a series of tutorials which may be individual and group, you will also receive ongoing support and feedback during informal studio and workshop activities.

Assessment 1: Portfolio

A portfolio of work supported by both an annotated sketch book demonstrating an awareness of reflective thinking, creative use of mixed media and drawing and a research file that demonstrates an understanding for professional practice outcomes.
Interim formal submissions for the portfolio are available for tutor re-assessment.

Project Work

This module is a foundation which introduces you to the range of professional practice routes that you will be able to engage with, and elect to study through the Intermediate and Honours levels of the course.  You will creatively explore a wide variety of approaches through the routes of:
<ul><li>Textile Design</li><li>Surface Design</li><li>Textile Crafts</li></ul>
 Working on a range of projects that may include:
<ul><li>Industry sponsored/supported</li><li>Self-written and independent</li></ul>
You will begin to establish an understanding of material process, colour, theory, technical, expressive, analytical and applied research skills as a foundation within a professional context. Sustainable practice, global citizenship, enterprise, community engaged activities and research will be explored in relation to your creative outputs for the three practice routes.
