Assessment 1: Portfolio

You will develop a portfolio of work consisting of visual research and development demonstrating exploration and experimentation with a diverse range of drawing techniques.
You will select work from your portfolio which illustrates your own personal direction.
Interim formal submissions for the portfolio are available for tutor re-assessment.

Portfolio

This module will introduce you to the subject of visual research and its relationship to your practice. You will produce a Portfolio of drawing from both primary and secondary research.  The emphasis of this module will be on developing a personal visual vocabulary which will promote greater awareness of visual perception, discernment and sensitivity.  
A diverse range of materials and techniques will be explored ranging from traditional drawing methods to mixed–media and digital techniques.  An analytical approach will be encouraged to promote the evaluation and selection methods of observation and recording of information.  A perceptual and aesthetic understanding will be encouraged relating visual research to the development of material and textile sampling.  The cultivation of original concepts which enable you to develop a personal direction for your work will form the core of this module.
