Assessment 1: Written assignment (coursework)

Formative assessment will be included in each coursework which will normally take the form of formative feedback, prior to the submission of the work as part of the summative assessment for the module.

Assessment 1: Portfolio

You are expected to complete a Digital Project Portfolio (100%) comprising outputs produced using different digital tools. The portfolio should be structured as a self-reflective commentary report on the tasks involving 2D and 3D CAD, 4D and 5D modelling practices, and how they fit into the concept of BIM.

Portfolio

The aim of the module is to provide you with an introduction to the digital technologies in construction, with a focus on the applications of the Building Information Modelling (BIM). The module will start from the traditional Computer Aided Design (CAD) applications, such as 2D CAD, 3D CAD, and continue to the latest development of BIM, including 4D modelling, 5D modelling. The concept of the nD modelling will also be introduced together with other emerging technologies, i.e. Robotics, laser scanning, 3D printing, etc used in construction industry worldwide.
