Formative assessment will consist of feedback from work completed in practical classes.
 

Assessment 2: Exam

The final written exam will then assess knowledge and understanding of topics covered across the whole module.
Students must meet an overall pass mark of 50% aggregated across all assessments to pass the module.

Assessment 1: In-Class Test

CWA inc. practical assessment.
Practical skills assessment will be carried out at the end of semester 1 and 2 to examine the proficiency of the students in performing the required clinical skills.

In-Class Test

Module presents knowledge of the composition and structure of modern spectacles and contact lenses so that students develop a theoretical background to dispensing. Students will use their knowledge of optics from the first year and apply it to decisions concerning the optimum outcome for the individual patient. Students will learn the basics of the types of contacts lenses, their insertion, removal, hygiene requirements and aftercare guidelines for patients.

Compulsory for eligibility to apply for Registration as an Optometrist through the General Optical Council
