Presentation

The module builds upon the concepts and techniques introduced in SFC1007. Emphasis will be placed on practical problem solving and both statistical and critical analysis of results. The module will introduce further instrumental techniques including chromatography and mass spectrometry and extend on skills obtained in SFC1007 in microscopy and spectroscopy. Materials of forensic interest analysed will typically include accelerants, poisons, drugs, soils and firearm/explosive residues. 
An opportunity for students to develop presentational skills is provided through the production of a recorded presentation based on one of the practicals.
