This module covers six topics:
-         Equilibrium and dynamic electrochemistry
-         Phase equilibria,
-         Colloids and colloidal suspensions,
-         Colligative properties,
-         Kinetics of composite reactions
-         Quantum theory – basic principles and simple applications.
With the exception of quantum theory, material in the other areas builds on that presented in year 1.

be able to qualitatively explain observations and predict trends in certain aspects of physical chemistry.

be able to apply numeracy skills to solve quantitative problems in physical chemistry.

know how to use a range of mathematical principles associated with the above theories both quantitatively and qualitatively.

appreciate how different aspects of physical chemistry are inter-related

have a good understanding of each of the topics mentioned above.

be able to carry out associated practical work safely and effectively, and process and interpret the results.
