A formative numeracy and dispensing test will prepare the students for the summative PPE.

Assessment 2: Portfolio (including examples)

 Students will be required to compile a portfolio of professional experience and evidence from their placement opportunities on which formative feedback will be given by the tutors. Portfolio learning requires students to integrate learning across the course and to be able to demonstrate the application of scientific learning to the practice of pharmacy.

<p>This module introduces students to the practice of pharmacy, the role of the pharmacist in society and their role as a member of the healthcare team and highlights issues related to ‘Health and Illness.’ In accordance with the annual theme “Foundations of Pharmacy,” students are introduced to the dispensing of medicines with respect to the underpinning skills, pharmaceutical legislation and ethics.  Students will also be introduced to the concept of self-care and the process of differential diagnosis with emphasis on the treatment of minor self-limiting illnesses such as coughs and colds.  Pharmacy placement visits will provide students with the opportunity to become familiar with the practice of pharmacy in both hospital and community pharmacy environments. This should comprise a brief summary of the module. It should be written in accessible language for the benefit of stakeholders such as students and employers and following the format specified for the IPP marketing statement.</p>
