Case study assignment incorporating a group presentation (15%), group report (25%) and submission of a complete set of peer assessment forms by each candidate (10%).

Taught material will contribute an element every week to the SAIL programme (Score As I Learn) submitted via the VLE platform. 11 x 15 minutes weekly assignments (quizzes). Each assignment (quiz) will be worth 3%. Taking the best 8 out of 11 scores.

<p>This module aims to develop your understanding of the strategic aspects of programme and project management and its role in adding competitive advantage to an organisation. The module enables you to gain a firm grounding in the principles, processes, tools and techniques that underpin programme and project management. It also aids you to develop a systematic understanding of the purposes and uses of financial information, together with the ability to use quantitative skills to improve performance management and decision making within an organisation. Emphasis is placed upon the need for competence in project planning and control. Team-working, communication and risk management skills are developed by means of group activity. Extensive use is made of project management and simulation software.</p>

Project and Finance Management

Gain deep understanding of the wide role of the project manager, with respect to project proposal/justification, project control, team-working, motivation, discipline and the selection/control of suppliers and sub-contractors.

Clearly demonstrate the command of appropriate skills to develop, communicate, monitor and control realistic project schedules, resource profiles, budgets and cost and performance indices.

Systematically demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

Systematically formulate and develop appropriate aims/objectives, specification/scope, deliverables, tasks and resource requirements and interpret financial information, with respect to practical case material.

Have a critical awareness of the attributes that are required to be an effective project manager and to be an effective member of a project team.
