Taught material will contribute an element every week to the SAIL programme (Score As I Learn) submitted via the VLE platform. 11 x 15 minutes weekly assignments. Each assignment will be worth 3%. Taking the best 8 out of 11 scores.

Analyse data for multiple design problems before individually solving using an appropriate design methodology; implementing using schematic capture and/or HDL on an appropriate ECAD software tool. Evaluate the quality of the design solution by developing a test strategy. Submit a log book for assessment.

<p>The module compares the design of complex asynchronous and synchronous systems and architectures, along with error coding strategies, including error detection and correction for high reliability systems using Hardware Description Language (HDL) tools. You will explore the concept of pipelining and gain an enhanced understanding of digital system analysis. This module will enable you to learn the implementation of complex asynchronous system designs onto hardware using industry standard HDL tools.</p>

Implement design solution onto a commercial device (Field Programmable Gate Array: FPGA).

Critically evaluate the methodologies, techniques, performance limitation factors and cost drivers for the design and analysis of digital systems.

Solve complex digital system problems and evaluate their relative merits using appropriate analysis techniques and CAD tools.

Develop innovative design solutions, using HDL code, for digital systems.

Critically analyse data for an unfamiliar design problem before solving using appropriate design methodologies and critically assess the quality of the solution using a series of test strategies.
