Taught material will contribute an element every week to the SAIL programme (Score As I Learn) submitted via the VLE platform. 11 x 15 minutes weekly assignments (quizzes). Each assignment (quiz) will be worth 3%. Taking the best 8 out of 11 scores.

<p>This module aims to develop your knowledge and skills in the use of computer aided design, computer aided manufacturing, supplemented with computer aided engineering applications (such as introduction to analysis tools), using advanced commercial industry standard software packages. There will be particular focus on practical applications. The module will expand on to some wider management issues associated with the introduction of CAD/CAM in a commercial environment (i.e. health and safety).</p>

Application of CAD/CAM

Demonstrate a critical understanding of the various CAD/CAM technologies and the various categories of 3-D modelling systems, their application in industry.

Develop a part program to machine a component using a computer aided part-programming software package.

Be aware of the strategic, financial aspects and health & safety implications of introducing CAD/CAM/CAE within manufacturing industry.

Undertake a variety of engineering design activities design tasks on industry standard CAD systems and software applications within a CAD system suite.

Undertake static analysis of a mechanical system using an integrated analysis package.
