<p>This module introduces you to the advanced techniques required for the analysis, design, operation and control of electrical power networks and power electronic drive systems. These system and drive concepts are explored as integrated components in conventional and renewable energy conversion systems, for example, solar, wind, fuel cell and industrial applications. Associated regulatory, economic and environmental issues are addressed in the context of the subject material to develop your breadth of knowledge.</p>

Electrical Power and Drive Systems

Investigate specified power/drive system characteristics, including the design of appropriate experimental procedures and the subsequent production of an engineering report.

Analyse power systems/electronic drive systems and solve related problems using appropriate mathematical methods.

Explain the use of power electronic methods for the provision of energy efficient, flexible control of DC and AC rotating machines.

Discuss the use of analytical techniques to support power system design and the specification of plant to ensure safe, economic and efficient operation within regulatory constraints.

Analyse the performance of power electronic drive systems and electrical machines by applying power electronic supply principles.

Analyse/design an appropriately graded protection scheme for a radial feeder and multi-fed system.
